Water flow to continue over Shoshone Falls helping migrating salmon, steelhead

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation will continue releasing water over Shoshone Falls to help to migrating salmon and steelhead.

The bureau is currently in the process of releasing water from the Milner Dam at a rate of about 5,000 cubic feet per second over the falls.

This will help the migrating salmon and steelhead in the lower stretch of the Snake River reach the Columbia River and, ultimately, the Pacific Ocean.

Flows will ramp down starting July 17–20 to less than half of what they are currently.

By Aug. 5, water managers expect flows past Milner Dam to be at zero, leaving just a few hundred cfs at the falls.
