Idaho IceWorld holds last skate before temporary closure

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Idaho Ice World is closed for business, at least temporarily.

The closure is part of Mayor Lauren Mclean's new health order that creates consequences for people and businesses that violate COVID-19 restrictions.

Owners of Idaho Ice World want to make sure employees and community members stay safe and healthy through the pandemic.

So, Friday was the last day skaters could hit the ice.

“I hope it reopens soon. I’m sure all my skating mates and coaches want it to reopen as well. This sport is everything to a lot of us, it’s our outlet, our passion. We don’t want to see skating dwindle in the Treasure Valley,” said Chaney Kirkmire, skater and coach.

Idaho Ice World will remain closed until Sept. 30, 2021.
