Victoria and David bought the 1930s Hertfordshire mansion Rowneybury House, otherwise known as Beckingham Palace, for £2.5m in 1999. “Camp, tacky, like a tart’s boudoir” is how Victoria described her English home, which came complete with an indoor swimming pool, Audrey Hepburn bathroom, snooker room, gym and floodlit tennis courts.
