Active incident in Nampa: Roads blocked, public urged to avoid 16th Avenue South

Update:

Nampa, ID (CBS2) — According to Nampa Police, officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of 16th Avenue South around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024, to a call from a woman who reported her boyfriend 63-year-old Nicholas Todd Drake had threatened her with a shotgun.

According to the woman she believed Drake had several weapons and was threatening to harm others. The woman was able to leave the residence and believed that Drake was there alone.

Police attempted to make contact with Drake several times and even brought in crisis negotiators but Drake would not communicate with police.

Nampa Police Department's Tactical Response Team was called and was able to gain entry into the house where they took Drake into custody without further incident.

Drake was booked into the Canyon County Jail and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and resisting or obstructing arrest.

Nampa Police take suspect into custody:

Nampa police have taken the suspect into custody and will be opening roads shortly.

Nampa Police working to contact suspect:

Nampa Police are working to make contact with a wanted person who is inside a residence and refusing to communicate with Nampa Police. Police believe the suspect may be armed and ask that people continue to avoid the area.

Nampa Police are at the scene of an active incident in the 1000 block of 16th Avenue South.

Several roads have been blocked off in the area, Roosevelt at 16th Avenue South, Roosevelt and Ivy, and Ivy and 11th Street South are all blocked off for the safety of the public and traffic is being diverted.

Police are asking drivers to avoid the area.
